Head and Shoulders Ocean Lift Review

Head and Shoulders has a number of products on the shelf. Majority of them are designed to eradicate or control dandruff. I've been using their products for a number of years now, and recently tried their Ocean Lift 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner, so I thought I'd write a review to let others know what to expect before purchasing this particular product.

Price
The overall price of Ocean Lift by Head and Shoulders will vary, depending on what store you go to. I purchased mine at Walmart for somewhere around $5.00, for a 13.5 fl. oz. bottle. I've seen the same product on the shelves at CVS Pharmacy for close to $7.00. So where you decide to purchase it will make all the difference. The cheapest I've seen was the $5.00 pricetag, and I find it to be a tad bit expensive when compared to the generic products that attempt to imitate it, such as Equate's brand (though majority of the generic alternatives are based on the original Head and Shoulders products, I have not seen any that aim to replicate the Ocean Lift version).

Smell
I personally didn't care for the smell of Ocean Lift too much. It doesn't smell anything like the ocean, that much I can attest to. But then again, it doesn't advertise itself for the smell. It wasn't a disgustingly noticeable smell, but it wasn't noticeably pleasant either like some other shampoos I've had. It did seem to smell a little bit more industrial than herbal essences for example, but I guess that just comes with the territory when dealing with anti-dandruff shampoos.

Effects on Hair
I personally have a severe type of dandruff that I've been dealing with for a number of years. For a person with average dandruff problems, I think Head and Shoulders may be sufficient enough, but it wasn't for me. It was effective in controlling my dandruff for about a week, but I found that as soon as I stopped washing for 2 days, the dandruff quickly returned. I've used other brands of anti-dandruff shampoo, and not all of them required me to constantly use them each day in order to keep my dandruff under control. But I did see efficiency as long as I continued to use it each day, so it may be worth a try if you don't feel your dandruff is that bad. It comes with a conditioner mixed in, which did leave my hair softer than it was before, so that was one thing I especially liked about it.

Overall Sentiment
If I had to rate this shampoo on a scale of 1 to 10, I would probably give it a 5. While it wasn't the best dandruff shampoo I've ever used, it was certainly not the worst either. Since it's main ingredient is pyrithione zinc, it may be beneficial for those who haven't tried products with pyrithione zinc as their main ingredient. I've personally found better luck with shampoos that have Selenium Sulfide as their main active ingredient. So if you've already tried many Head and Shoulders products with no luck, you may want to avoid this one.
